Job Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Section Chief of Body Imaging will have responsibility for the following:
A. Create an environment that enhances clinical growth and academic development ensuring a high degree of integrity in all decisions and operations.
B. Communicate effectively and frequently with the clinical and administrative leadership, as well as with the faculty and staff to ensure that the Section’s activities are aligned with the mission and goals of the organization and the needs of its faculty and staff.
C. Plan effectively for the anticipated demand for body services arising from expanding patient volumes, ensuring that facilities, technologies, operations, staffing and outreach activities are sufficient.  Promote a strong culture of institutional responsibility, including a commitment to excellent, efficient and effective business operations and use of space.
D. Create programs for the academic and professional development of faculty.  Recruit, support and mentor body faculty who will maintain and advance the section.  Identify faculty who should be considered for promotion.
E. Promote a strong culture of institutional stewardship throughout the hospital, including commitment to improved business operations, efficient and effective use of space and a willingness to re-align resources with evolving strategies. Maintain or increase productivity of body imagers and collaborates with other TUHS physicians to ensure that the section meets the imaging and procedural needs of patients in all clinical areas.
F. Provide guidance in the selection of appropriate imaging equipment to advance the clinical programs; ensure that each purchase accommodates patient care needs.
G. Advance research activities in the Section that are consistent with the growth of clinical programs.
H. Ensure that clinical operations in each section are patient-centered, efficient, effective, safe, and provide a supportive environment for enabling the department’s education and research missions.
I. Oversee the education of students, residents and fellows. Create an active learning environment for both students and residents. Ensure that course materials are maintained and appropriately updated for all section portions of educational programs, including residency and fellowship programs, and student clerkships. Work with residency and medical student clerkship directors to oversee section faculty assignments for all educational programs.

A. Participates in department and/or system wide team dynamic initiatives.
B. Provides day-to-day support of workflow within the work unit; including disseminating information, assigning staff to cover for absences, providing technical assistance, answering questions and resolving problems as directed by the Supervisor of Clinical Support.
C. Act as a team player and works collaboratively within the team and organization.
D. Assist with developing priorities, goals, and action plans.
E. Respond to requests from Clinical Supervisor.
F. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assist with evaluation of programs and services.
Useful Suggestions for Process Improvement

A. Identifies better, faster, more efficient ways of doing tasks as well as eliminates unnecessary work and all non-value-added activities to enable a focus on work that generates greater value.
B. Responds to requests from Clinical Supervisor, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assist with evaluation of programs and services.  Communicates with Supervisor regarding cost savings initiatives and planning.
C. Utilizes understanding of regulatory requirements to identify ways to improve process quality and compliance.


Job Qualifications:
An M.D. or M.D. /Ph.D.
• Active board certification in Radiology and fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging;
• Possess academic credentials for a faculty appointment on the clinician educator track at the minimum level of Associate Professor;
• Prior leadership experience in an academic environment preferred; Eligibility of an unrestricted medical license in NYS;
• Demonstrate sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
