Certified Pharmacy Technician- Joplin

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification required
  • 2 – 3 years working experience as a Pharmacy Technician with competency in the essential duties and responsibilities listed below. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously applies security measures to always protect and maintain privacy of employee and patient information. 
  • Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
  • Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Check drug inventory for expired medications every month.
  • Assist customers by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
  • File prescriptions that have been filled.
  • Order, label, and count stock of medications or supplies and enter inventory data into computer.
  • Return all expired medications on time to receive proper credit.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
  • Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions, under the pharmacist’s direction.
  • Store hazardous waste materials in commercial container only for proper disposal.
  • Store warfarin in the appropriate biohazard container.
  • Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers.
  • Clean and help maintain equipment or work areas and sterilize glassware, according to prescribed methods.
  • Sequester returned medications, expired medications in proper areas of the Pharmacy.
  • Document and report all medication errors to the pharmacy manager ASAP or within 24 hours.
  • Communicate all customer complaints to the pharmacy manager asap or within 24 hours.
  • Process medical insurance claim forms and records.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to perform other duties as assigned

  • Adheres to program guidelines, policies and procedures, and reports all work related incidents/accidents timely to appropriate management and Human Resources.
  • Participates in safety in-services.
  • Follows proper reporting procedures for actual or potential incidents so follow up and or prevention can occur. 

 

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The individual in this position will have mobility within the Pharmacy as well as ACCESS Family Care’s other sites from time to time.  The work environment is considered a normal office environment with minimal exposure to temperature changes, noise, dust or chemicals.  Normal working hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with one hour off for lunch each day.  Overtime may be required occasionally, with flexible scheduling arrangements as approved.  Occasional travel may be required to participate in seminars, in-services, workshops, and meeting at other worksites.  As ACCESS Family Care expands our territories, this individual may travel occasionally to other worksites.  While performing the duties of this position the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
