Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a highly skilled Open VMS Administrator to join our team. The Administrator will be responsible for implementing the maintenance for all managed OpenVMS Server hardware and externally attached The Administrator will also be responsible for management of changes to form, fit or functions for all IT stand alone and blade server hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering-related support for HP based OpenVMS server/appliance related operations and maintenance support.

  • Provide information for regular server maintenance activities. Coordinate maintenance activities with the System owners and manufacturer.

  • Provide engineering, administration, maintenance and updates for all managed HP OpenVMS Servers hardware and externally attached appliances.

  • Conduct integration and security testing for all new and upgraded equipment, networks, system software and services.

  • Create, maintain, and capture Open VMS server's hardware maintenance agreements, warranty and licenses and their period of coverage.

  • Develop, document, and maintain the SOPs, engineering procedures that meet requirements and adhere to defined server deployment, maintenance, repair and removal policies.

  • Prepare and submit Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports providing information on outages, such as component involved, period of downtime, corrective actions and additional reports as requested by Government management.

  • Maintain warranty protection and conditions for Server equipment.

  • Maintain up-to-date vendor documentation for all systems.

 
Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in the HP Open VMS server infrastructure engineering field n) Experience with either HP Blade C7000

  • Experience with managing firmware in OpenVMS environment

  • Configuring and troubleshooting skills in server hardware and software problems

  • Solid understanding in CPU, memory, hard drives, and other components

  • Understanding of SAN, NAS and local storage technologies

  • Experience Microsoft, UNIX/Linux!VMware and CIFS and SAMBA file system and administration

  • Experience with systems evaluation testing

  • Performance tuning and monitoring to identify and resolve bottlenecks

  • Working knowledge of Hardware performance trouble shooting and technologies

  • Understanding of Hardware best practices

Certifications:

HP OpenVMS OS Server certified Preferred
