Job Description/Essential Functions:

District 19 Community Services Board has a vacancy for a Bed Placement Technician that serves a part of the Emergency Services (ES) team to find bed placement for consumers deemed in need of behavioral health care treatment in order to stabilize their current crisis situation. This position also supports the ES team with obtaining authorizations for service, determining eligibility for Alternative Transportation Criteria, and manning the crisis line when needed. The bed placement technician position will need excellent customer service; written, oral and interpersonal communications, experience working in a crisis services setting, and knowledge of VA Code as it relates to Temporary Detention and Involuntary Commitments.


Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):

Successful applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree or applicable knowledge gained through on the job learning, internships, practicum, or volunteer experience.  Knowledge of crisis intervention and experience working with emergency and hospital personnel across the crisis continuum. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers, have experience using Microsoft Office, and technology/software used to transmit and document services provided.

Must meet the DBHDS definition of "Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A)" to include:

At least a bachelor's degree in human services or related field (social work, psychology, psychiatric rehabilitation, sociology, counseling, vocational rehabilitation, human services counseling or other degree deemed equivalent to those described) from an accredited college and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness;
or
• an individual with a master's degree in psychology from an accredited college or university with at least one year of clinical experience;
or
• a person with at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in an unrelated field that includes at least 15 semester credits (or equivalent) in a human services field and who has at least three years of clinical experience;
or
• any other licensed mental health professional.

Must be QMHP, experience working in a crisis/emergency services programand experience with an electronic health records system.

Salary:
Position is a Grade 207, starting salary is $42,236.00. Salaries are negotiable.
