Job Description/Essential Functions:

District 19 Community Services Board, located in Petersburg, VA has an exciting position as an Outpatient Mental Health Therapist. The available position will primarily serve adults, however the incumbent must be able to provide services to children and adolescents as well. District 19, a public behavioral health agency, is seeking a full time licensed or licensed- eligible therapist to provide MH Outpatient Therapy. Services to be provided include conducting comprehensive needs assessments and mental health therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and their families residing in the District 19 CSB catchment area utilizing trauma informed and evidence based practices. Other duties include, but are not limited to treatment planning, individual counseling, case coordination, community engagement, referrals, crisis intervention coordination, discharge planning and associated record keeping. Therapists will also conduct assessments as part of the Same Day Access program when needed.

The incumbent is responsible for complying with all applicable laws and professional practice standards associated with the field of substance use disorders and mental health. The incumbent must have the ability to work effectively with all types/levels of persons utilizing ethically sound judgment; demonstrate initiative; excellent time management skills, and maintain confidentiality. The incumbent must also possess the ability to be flexible and a team player.




Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):
Professional license (i.e. LPC, LCSW, LMFT, LCP) or Licensed eligible (under supervision and registered with the Board) required.Minimum one year clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, at risk, and/or military. Experience providing individual and group therapy.

Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:
Prefer crisis intervention experience. 

Prefer knowledge and training in evidence-based practice and trauma-informed care.

Bilingual (Spanish) candidate preferred.

Position is a grade 210-211, salaried position depending on licensure status. Salaries are negotiable. 
Starting salary for new employees will be based on the prospective employee's knowledge, skills and abilities directly relating to the position's duties. Starting salaries for new employees will not exceed the advertised maximum and will be based on the availability of funding within the current budget.

District 19 Community Service Board is a qualifying employer for public service loan forgiveness (PSLF).
