Job Description/Essential Functions:
District 19 Community Services Board (D19CSB) is seeking a qualified professional to work as the Transitional Living Program Clinical Supervisor. Essential duties of this position are: to lead and support efficient, comprehensive, and effective services at Ellis Square, a transitional independent living program for adults with Serious Mental Illness; to provide clinical administration, clinical oversight and direct supervision to the Mental Health Skill Building (MHSS) and Residential Specialists at Ellis Square, in Dinwiddie, VA; to ensure compliance and quality of services in implementation and on-going programming for individuals being discharged from state facilities per agreement with DBHDS.  Some evening hours are required for this position.  This position provides some on-call support for program staff outside of regular business hours.

  • Master's degree in Human Services Field. Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy strongly preferred.
  • The successful candidate will be eligible for licensure as a mental health professional (LCSW, LCP, LMFT, LPC) with the Board of Health Professions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Ability to complete mental health assessments, provide and document mental health skill-building services, and evaluate service needs for adult clients in an independent transitional living program.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a point balance of -6 or higher. The Clinical Supervisor will be required to transport consumers using an agency vehicle.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience working with individuals with Seriously Mental Illness (SMI) and Substance Use (SA); mental health counseling/crisis interventions with adults, and community based Mental Health/case management services.
  • A pre-employment drug screening and extensive background check will be required for this position.

    Preferred candidate will have:

  • The preferred candidate will have prior supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health diagnoses (DSM-V) and treatment techniques, theories of human personality and human development, individual and group counseling/therapy, mental health skill building, or equivalent Medicaid funded community-based skill building services, Serious Mental Illness (SMI), and Substance Use Disorders.
  • Excellent skills in written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of Behavioral Health documentation requirements.
  • Ability to exercise consistent sound judgement and maintain professional boundaries with both clients and staff in a team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of confidentiality laws (HIPAA, CFR 42).
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, email, and Electronic Health Records.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members, stake holders, and community partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of community resources and services.
  • Applicants with current or prior certification as a Preadmission Screener (DBHDS Certified Prescreener) will be given preference.


Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:
  • Ability to make sound clinical judgment, ability to manage a caseload of 20.
  • Clinical supervision towards licensure may be available for eligible employees.
  • Periodic lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • This is a grade 213, full time position.
  • Starting Salary is $59,913.00 annually.
