Job Description/Essential Functions:
The primary responsibility of this position is to act as the Family Assessment & Planning Team (FAPT) clinical representative on the majority of FAPT team meetings within the nine District 19 CSB localities. Provide significant levels of communication and collaboration with D19 staff, including case managers, and with each community, as well as regular contact with the Children's Services Act (CSA) Coordinators in the catchment area.  Position also provides clinical assessments (ie, ICA, VJCCCA) and acts as the primary back-up to the Children's Division's outpatient therapists.  Additional responsibilities include strengthening relationships with the FAPT teams, consistently and professionally representing the agency, managing all of the FAPT schedules, coordinating with existing Children's staff, completing assessments as needed, providing outpatient therapy to children and adolescents as needed, and regularly attending assigned FAPT and FAPT-related meetings/committees.

Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):
Serious emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, substance use disorders, and/or co-occurring disorders in children and adolescents.  Trauma-informed and person-centered practices.  Services and systems available in the community including primary health care, support services, eligibility criteria and intake processes, and community resources.  Different types of assessments and their uses in service planning; Clinical treatment modalities and intervention techniques, such as individual therapy, group therapy, behavior management, family therapy, and crisis intervention. Treatment planning and discharge planning.  Types of mental health, developmental, and substance abuse programs available in the locality.  All applicable federal and state laws and regulations and local ordinances.
 
Employee shall have skills in: 
Providing therapy; Collaborating internally and externally with other youth-serving providers; Coordinating the provision of services by diverse public and private providers. Identifying and documenting an individual's need for resources, services, and other supports; Using information from assessments, evaluations, observation, and interviews to develop recommendations; Managing cases.
 
 
Employee shall have abilities to:
Working as a team member and maintaining effective inter- and intra-agency working relationships;  Working independently performing position duties under general supervision; and engaging in and sustaining ongoing relationships with individuals receiving services, parents, families, and community partners.

A professional license as a Licensed Mental Health Provider (LMHP) is required.

Must have a valid Virginia Driver's License

Must have a Master's degree in the human services field.

Two years of experience providing assessments and treatment to children, adolescents, or families in a mental health setting is required.

Previous experience in Virginia as a FAPT representative, a CPMT representative, or in another Children's Services Act (CSA) role is required.

Knowledge of Virginia's CSA system is required.

Basic computer skills are required.

 
 

Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:
Prefer experience serving seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) or at risk youth. 

Prefer experience working with teams.
