Job Description/Essential Functions:
District 19 Community Services Board is seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A) to assist us in our mission to provide comprehensive skill building services for adults diagnosed with serious mental illness at our Transitional Independent Living Program.  In this unique position, you will work on-site with individuals who are residing in independent living apartments operated by our program, helping them to develop and build the skills they will need for transitioning into full independence in the community.  As a part of a dynamic and supportive team, our Mental Health Skill Builders work together with the Case Manager and the Medical providers to develop an individualized service plan for each person that will help them work towards independent living goals that they help you to identify and define.

Requirements: (Experience, Essential Education, and Skills Needed):

Must be able to meet criteria for certification as QMHP-A (qualified mental health professional – adult services).  At a minimum, candidates must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in human services or related field, or Special Education from an accredited college and with at least one year of clinical experience providing direct services to individuals with a diagnosis of mental illness.  A full list of approved degrees can be found on the Department of Health Professions website at 115-8.pdf (virginia.gov)
  • One year of experience working with adults who have been diagnosed with a mental illness in a treatment setting.

Position requires valid Driver’s License in state of residence with a point balance of -6 or higher, and an extensive pre-employment background check and drug screening.

This position requires a high level of proficiency using computers, including Microsoft Office Suite programs and Electronic Health Records.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidate is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications / Other Relevant Job Information:

Experience providing community-based mental health services to adults diagnosed with a serious mental health condition is strongly preferred.

Experience with Medicaid billable service requirements is strongly preferred.

Experience working as part of an inter-disciplinary treatment team is strongly preferred.

 

Candidates who have experience working with individuals diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, or acquitted as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary:
Position is a Grade 208, starting salary is $44,771.00/year.
Salaries are negotiable. 

Hours:
This position works on-site at the Ellis Square Transitional Living Program as a full-time, salaried employee. This position works 4 weekday shifts (1:00-9:00pm) and one weekend shift (10:00am-6:00pm) per week.
