Davidson is seeking a Scrum Master in Roy, Utah

This position is an integral part of a fast-paced, innovative program involving developing software for the Sentinel program. The program works cross-functionally with innovative team members skilled in Software Engineering and System Engineering.

All team members should be able to:

  • Experiment with innovative theories, ideas, and concepts to expand the realm of the possible
  • Self-organize and participate in an agile development lifecycle
  • Ask questions and build consensus within a cross-functional team
  • Provide design inputs and collaborate to decompose, estimate, and refine backlog requirements
  • Communicate and collaborate through verbal and visual methods (including diagramming, whiteboarding, 1-pagers, etc…)

 Experience Level: Experienced Professional

 High-Level Role and Responsibilities:

With a primary focus on the Agile mindset and Scrum methodology, the Scrum Master role focuses on facilitating the most effective application of Agile principles and practices to meet our customers’ emerging mission needs.  You will work within an Agile team and act as a ‘servant leader’ to the team, helping them to work effectively to deliver maximum value to our customers.

  • Actively facilitate team ceremonies (e.g., Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospective) and supporting activities such as backlog refinement to ensure that the relevant objectives are achieved
  • Enhance sprint productivity
  • Act as a servant-leader and facilitator to support teams in the day-to-day operations of their agile practices
  • Empower the team to self-organize and to take collective responsibility for delighting customers through the development of high-quality products
  • Facilitate planning program increments
  • Support the team in identifying, addressing, and removing impediments to the attainment of goals
  • Drive sustainable continuous improvement, including collating and deriving insights from data
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency and making information visible
  • Support teams or individuals to improve performance and achieve goals through coaching and mentoring
  • Collaborate with other scrum masters and product owners


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2 years experience as a Scrum Master
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Agile environment
  • Thorough knowledge of Agile principles, practices, and methods (particularly Scrum)
  • Practical experience of servant-leadership in Agile teams
  • Excellent organizational and facilitation skills
  • Self-starting mentality and willingness to take ownership of difficult challenges
  • Desire to drive change and creating innovative solutions
  • Experience with modern agile project management tools (Jira, Gitlab or similar)

 

Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:

  • Background in SW development or SW development management
  • Knowledge of system engineering principals
  • Experience with operational weapon software systems
  • PMI-ACP Certification or Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
  • Safe certification:SAFe Scrum Master or SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)
