Compensation & Benefit Specialist

As Compensation and Benefit Specialist, you play a pivotal role in promoting Derse employees’ work-life balance and future. You will drive our Total Rewards program (compensation, benefits and wellness program, and safety program) and carry out the administration of Derse’s 401K and profit sharing plan.  You will represent the Human Resources corporate team, working on the front line to help employees answer questions about insurance and benefits, and directly report to the Vice President of HR.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Compensation

  • Analyze and administer Derse’s compensation strategy, including the structure and range to support strategic plan.
  • Recommend yearly increase, monitor new hire and promotion levels and work with managers annually on salary administration.
  • Monitor pay programs to ensure consistent treatment of all employees.
  • Complete compensation logs for all new positions and updates accordingly.
  • Stay abreast of governmental regulations and reporting requirements affecting company policies and human resource practices, including Wage and Hour and FLSA regulations.
  • Participate in Annual Salary Compensation Surveys for to ensure competitive compensation practices.
  • Create and distribute total compensation statements to emphasize the value to all employees of their benefit packages.
  • Reviews payroll records to make sure employee deductions are made accurately.
  • In concert with the VP of HR ensures job titles/job descriptions tie in with the salary ranges.

 

Benefit Administration

  • Administer all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, life, disability, 401K and profit sharing plans.
  • In concert with the VP of HR, annually evaluate the cost of employee benefits, including healthcare cost containment, utilization review and insurance claim costs, and monitor the effectiveness of Health and Wellness programs on these costs and work with vendors on renewal/bid process.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy for benefit programs to improve employee engagement and ensure understanding of annual open enrollment process and offerings.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and complies with provisions of COBRA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA, HIPAA, ACA, ERISA and other applicable laws as necessary; Files appropriate reports with State and Federal agencies.
  • Administer Wellness Program ensuring timely notification to all employees of the yearly goals and objectives. Review and communicate participation levels and how they affect the health insurance premium sharing percentage
  • Calculate and submit all monthly pension payments to the respective union plans.
  • Review, process and submit all benefit bills for payment to the VP for final approval.
  • Administer COBRA, FMLA and ADA programs.
  • Administer worker’s compensation program with carrier, working with Employee Relations Manager to ensure coordinated efforts to minimize cost.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related discipline.
  • PHR/SPHR (or equivalent) preferred
  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
  • 3-5 years demonstrated compensation and benefit experience
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, compile and interpret data in a logical format and perform in-depth analysis
