The Technician III (UG) supports the lead craftsman (Technician I) in securing all necessary materials needs to complete the assigned job and performing routine troubleshooting inspections and maintenance functions necessary for the maintenance of T&D substation and other equipment.

Duties and Tasks:
Duties and Tasks are to:

Maintain health, safety and environment standards by:
- Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and
- Completing all required HSE training.

Plan work by:
- Assisting with collecting substation operational data.
- Assisting with effectively scoping predetermined jobs to output design standards to be incorporated.
- Assisting with Identifying and eliminating risks for all job proposals.
- Providing analyze assistance with time records, technical reports and failure reports. 
- Assisting in inspections of the substation system, and
- Supporting materials inventory and the identification and availability of materials and tools needed to accomplish each job are available.

Ensure optimization, reliability and efficiency of electrical systems and substations by:
- Providing Basic interpretation of one-electrical drawings and AC & DC circuit schematics.
- Assisting with maintain maintenance logs, manuals, records and operating/safety procedures.
- Providing written reports on system conditions or any irregularities that have been identified.
- Assisting with troubleshooting and diagnose the cause of electrical circuits or equipment failure.
- Utilizing support systems such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Computerized Maintenance Management System, Geographic Information System, Outage Management System and other smart systems.
- Assisting with operating specialized equipment and electrical switches.
- Installing and terminating low and high voltage cables.
- Assisting with assembling and erect substation switches, bus components, substation equipment stands and towers.
- Laying out control panels and cabinets.
- Assisting in the installation and maintenance procedures of high voltage electrical equipment, including transformers, breakers, and instrument transformers in accordance with adapted industry practices.
- Assisting in the installation and maintenance procedures of medium voltage electrical equipment, including reclosers, regulators, and switches in accordance with adapted industry practices.
- Assisting in the installation and maintenance procedures of low voltage electrical equipment such as batteries, chargers, and lighting in accordance with adapted industry practices. 
- Supporting the maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, and emergency generators in accordance with adapted industry practices.
- Monitoring substation apparatus and maintaining and repairing electrical and mechanical apparatus as necessary.
- Assisting with testing circuit breakers, insulating oils, transformers, high voltage cables, and reclosers.
- Maintaining the well being of all critical tools and test equipment, and
- Understanding the basic function of  secondary, distribution and transmission systems’ application, equipment and .

 Support excellence in customer service standards by:
- Providing safe and swift service that is aligned with industry standards. Manner
- Incorporating safe behavior into all executables and constantly complying with established safety and environmental polies and procedures.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and demonstrating related competencies by participating fully in GBPCs CBT training program. 

Contribute to team effort by completing other duties as assigned and participating fully in restoration activities as required.
 


Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

Academic/Skill Requirements:
The Technician III (UG) will have a High School Diploma with BGCSE grades of C or above in English and Mathematics and a City & Guilds Electrical Technicians Part 1 certification or the equivalent.  They will demonstrate expertise in maintenance and construction of substations and underground systems and in switching.  The Technician III (UG) will understand all phases of low voltage, high voltage and underground work, up to 15KV and will have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), report writing and in reading substation electrical drawings.
