Summary/Position Overview:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The System Administrator is responsible for the management of business applications and computer systems to ensure high levels of availability and security. This role requires a proactive and innovative individual with strong problem-solving skills who can address complex technical issues and implement new technologies to enhance business operations. He/she will provide solutions and technical support for enterprise resource systems to improve the business. They shall be involved in planning, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for system provisioning, maintenance and business analysis.

This role involves troubleshooting, system upgrades, and providing technical support to staff.





Duties and Tasks:

DUTIES AND TASKS

He/she will:

 

Maintain health, safety and environment standards by:

  • Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and
  • Completing all required HSE training.

Support, maintain, and manage business application systems by:
  • Working with users to determine their system needs
  • Reviewing, analyzing and creating detailed documentation of business systems and user needs including workflows and program functions.
  • Testing and implementing program temporary fixes (ptf’s), hotfixes, service packs, and security patches for all applications and databases.
  • Maintaining the security and integrity of the business applications, databases, computer network and servers including storage management, virtual environment and backups
  • Troubleshooting and repairing various computer hardware, applications and network systems errors.


Seek and implement continuous improvements to the IT environment by:

  • Integrating applications and systems to improve business functionality
  • Monitoring, administrating and maintaining the company’s applications and databases and provide recommendations for improving.
  • Updating all company applications and database systems as technology changes, within budgetary guidelines and direction from the Manager and/or Director.
  • Providing end user training.
  • Performing annual evaluations and other administrative functions for non- supervisory IT Department personnel.


Preserve assets by:

  • Assisting in managing backup and recovery activities


Achieve financial results by:

  • Assisting with the formation and management of the annual technology plan and associated budgets.
  • Managing costs in accordance with expenditure appropriation.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.




Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

ACADEMIC/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The Systems Administrator will have an earned bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, with knowledge of systems; CIS, Accounting, HR, Procurement and Work Management applications. Five (5) years’ experience supporting computer systems and business applications. Preferred experience with database management; Microsoft SQL, Oracle database management, application integration and development, Windows Server & Linux Server, IBM AS/400 and VMWare/virtual environment. He/she will have excellent organization, teamwork, problem solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
