Summary/Position Overview:
This position provides support to Energy Maintenance, Facility Maintenance, and Fleet Services in cleaning, assisting with minor repairs and assisting with basic maintenance tasks to aid in the safe and efficient operation of equipment and facilities.

Duties and Tasks:
The Utility Worker will:
- Maintain health, safety and environment standards by:
- Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and
- Completing all required HSE training.

Maintain buildings and grounds by:
- Cleaning plant equipment and buildings to maintain sanitary and orderly conditions.
- Inspecting and maintaining painted exterior and interior surfaces, trimming and fixtures.
- Performing general carpentry work, included, but not limited to, the building of shipping crates and wooden forms, structural walls, and enclosures and the installation of windows.
- Removing and/or installing insulation and/or boiler cladding (pipe insulation, turbine insulation, and/or walls).
- Completing general facility repairs including, but not limited to, roof repairs and general plumbing repairs to taps, shower heads, toilets, sinks, hot water tank leaks).
- Landscaping grounds with hand or power tools and/or equipment.
- Managing solid waste and recyclables.

Maintain equipment by:
- Operating mobile heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring machines and equipment are well lubricated for daily operations.
- Inspecting and operating rigging and lifting devices.
- Assisting with diesel engine maintenance and the balance of plant.
- Performing fuel handling duties as required.
- Contribute to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and communicating effectively with coworkers and upper management any abnormalities with.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by:
- Participating in professional development opportunities to keep abreast of new and evolving technologies and maintenance procedures in the electric power industry, and
- Completing more than ninety (90) percent of all annual training.
 

Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:
ACADEMIC /SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
The Utility Worker will have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in mechanical maintenance or have the equivalent experience in a job training program and have earned a high school diploma and BGCSE certificates in English, Math and Science.
