Summary/Position Overview:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Reliability Technician is responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of chemical, mechanical, and electrical systems, equipment and administrative processes y for the Energy Operations department. This role involves data collection and analysis, engine and equipment performance monitoring and maintenance, and the implementation of strategic preventative measures and recommendations to enhance operational excellence.

POSITION SCOPE

This role serves as a strategic support position, with the incumbent expected to assist in managing key performance indicators vital to the overall success of departmental objectives. This will involve reviewing and establishing processes and procedures aimed at enhancing efficiency and optimizing system reliability.


Duties and Tasks:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect and analyze data from multiple sources (e.g., fuel, water, steam, oil, and waste systems) to support quality control processes and identify trends that inform condition-based equipment operation.
  • Perform technical evaluations and performance analyses of auxiliary systems supporting power generation. These include but are not limited to: water systems (such as steam and cooling), oil systems (such as diesel, heavy fuel, and lubricants), air systems (including instrumentation and control), waste management systems (such as sludge and oily water), and electrical systems (such as 480V power supply, station service, lighting, and small power).
  • Ensure operational compliance with weekly, monthly, and annual fire protection system testing and reporting requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight of fuel oil and lubricant oil bunkering equipment and manage oil inventory to support operational efficiency.
  • Conduct technical assessments of stack emissions data and oily water levels to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare daily reports on key operational data, including but not limited to energy production, auxiliary power consumption, oil and water tank levels, fuel transfers, and critical system pressures and temperatures.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making related to oil inventory management.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for essential equipment—including turbochargers, purification systems, and filters—by leveraging manufacturer recommendations (OEM) and industry best practices
  • Analyze operational workflows, procedures, systems, and performance metrics to identify inefficiencies and recommend areas for improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analyses of equipment or process failures and low performance and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including both technical and non-technical personnel, to implement process improvements.
  • Assist in forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of operational strategies and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Support business transformation initiatives and management of change processes.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate performance reports.


Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

The candidate should have at least three (3) years of experience in an analytical, operational, or consulting role within an industrial setting. They must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in MS Office programs (in particular, Excel, Word and Access) and have familiarity with maintenance management systems such as Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). Effective communication, attention to detail, multitasking ability, teamwork, willingness to support and the capacity to work independently are also essential.
