Summary/Position Overview:
The AutoCAD Operator (Grid Operations) is responsible for the creating, reviewing, and maintaining the Grid Operations technical drawings. The role supports civil activities by providing accurate graphical representations of the substation and the transmission and distribution assets.
Duties and Tasks:
Maintain health, safety, and environment standards by:
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental and health standards.
- Ensure that maintenance and safety procedures are adhered to, and
- Complete all required HSE training.
Achieve performance objectives by:
- Assist in the development of detailed drawings and plans for distribution, substations and transmission circuits using CAD software.
- Interpret given project requirements and translating them into desired technical drawings.
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of drawings and standards in Adept, PLS Library, SharePoint and other archiving platforms.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and team members to support design specifications, uphold existing standards and ensure design compliance.
- Update drawings based on feedback, design modifications, quality control checks or Management of Change (MOC) initiatives.
- Utilize PLS-CADD and other line construction software to design distribution and transmission line for confirming design compliance, modeling terrain, identification of proper limits of approach and calculating sag and tension.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, drawings and other documentation for design specification.
- Create maps for GIS applications to support project planning and analysis.
- Support solutions with Outage Map and other smart platforms for architectural considerations.
- Gather and translate field data into desired outcome.
- Contribute to project cost estimates and schedule.
- Maintain record keeping and documentation metrics for drawings and related data
- Contribute to team success by accomplishing related results/ tasks as needed.
Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:
The candidate should have an Associate’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering Technology or a CAD Certification, with at least two years of experience in AutoCAD and PLS software. Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, Caisson, PLS-CADD, PLS-Grid, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower, SAPS, SolidWorks, and SagSec is essential. Knowledge of drafting standards such as ISO, ANSI, and DIN, along with a strong understanding of industry codes and regulations is required. The candidate should also be able to collaborate with team members and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
