Under the general supervision of the Manager of Grid Engineering or designee, the Temporary Electrician Technician Support is responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of plant electrical and control systems (with specific focus on GBPC’s Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) site), as well as other auxiliary equipment necessary for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of said systems. Other duties of the position include but are not limited to inspection, testing and evaluation of equipment integrity and performance, troubleshooting, logging of key aging parameters, system/material trending, operation of switchgear and other isolation equipment, repair and/or replacement of electronic, electrical, instrument and control equipment/components, battery charging, interpretation and preparation of schematic drawings, sketches, report production to reflect changes or alterations made to systems and equipment, oversight and day to day addressing of issues as they arise at the BESS site.
They will also be expected to provide technical support for other plant/facility equipment and processes, as needed.

The Electrician Technician Support (Temporary) will have post-high school training in Science, Engineering, or related field. They will have 5 years’ experience at a technician level in the maintenance department of an industrial facility. They will have DCS and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programming experience. They will have experience in specifying and/or maintaining field devices and networks. They will have knowledge of applicable codes and standards as it pertains to electrical safety and energy storage systems. They will be able to read electrical drawings and control schematics. They will have experience handling batteries, and a general understanding of DC systems and inverters, switchgear, transformers, DCS, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
The Electrician Technician Support (Temporary) will be self-directed, meticulous, have good organization skills, and exhibit good judgment. They should have the ability to troubleshoot and cope with the pressure and responsibility of project targets and deadlines and make decisions that align with established company policies. Additionally, they will be dependable, effective in communication – both orally and in writing and willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work and be available for storm response. This job requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
