Summary/Position Overview:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 The Technician I provides technical support for the smooth operation of the business technology infrastructure while ensuring that users have access to the tools and systems they need to work. They provide training and technical assistance to employees in all departments.

 

POSITION SCOPE:

 The Technician I serve as a technical support for the company, responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer applications, network and hardware. They will provide technical support with minimal or no supervision. They will work with team members to provide innovative solutions and resolve complex and routine computer issues.


Duties and Tasks:

Maintain health, safety and environmental standards by:          

  • Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and

  • Completing all required HSE training

Support enterprise systems by:

  • Enforcing policies and promoting cyber security

  • Providing software and hardware technical support for all departments

  • Providing customer support to end users via the IT Helpdesk

  • Testing and evaluating new technology and applications

  • Technical report writing

  • Maintaining IT asset inventory

  • Maintaining the data integrity of all applications.

  • Maintaining documentation of applications and IT risk registers

  • Managing and troubleshooting operating systems

  • Network work support and troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware and software issues.

  • Maintaining and supporting office equipment (printers, scanner, projectors etc.)

  • Provide training to end user.

  • Produce statistical and management reports.

Support internal customers in the use and resolution of problems associated with interfacing in the IT operating environment by:

  • Providing computer hardware and software training for all departments.

  • Providing technical support (hardware and software) for all departments.


Seek and implement continuous improvements to the IT environment by:

  • Assisting IT team with the implementation of new computer projects.

  • Assisting staff with the operation of computer programs.

  • Producing statistical and management reports to inform planning and decision making.

  • Promoting and educating end users about cyber security.

 

Achieve financial results by:

  • Ordering computer hardware, software & accessories in alignment with department budget.

  • Producing purchase order requisitions, bids, quotations, and expenditure appropriations.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other related results/job duties as assigned.


Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

ACADEMIC/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The Technician I will have an earned Associate degree in Computer Information Science or related field, five (5) years’ experience in computer related activities. The incumbent should be proficient with software programs including Microsoft Office Enterprise Suite, business applications, cloud applications, client server applications install, application database maintenance and technical report writing.

 

The incumbent will demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers, printers, and copiers, with strong working knowledge of computer hardware and networking systems. A+ and Network+ certifications are required. The role also requires hands-on experience in network cabling and fiber termination and installation. The incumbent must possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and effective organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate productively within a team environment.
