POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Warehouse Supervisor leads GBPC’s Warehouse operations at one or more warehouse locations. In that capacity the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for performance management, people development, team building, health, safety & environmental initiatives, inventory management, budget development and administration, intra and interdepartmental actions and initiatives and other Warehouse related policies, procedures and practices.
POSITION SCOPE:
The Warehouse Supervisor plans, organizes, leads and controls operations within the warehouse(s) for which he is responsible. These operations include, but are not limited to, inventory management, housekeeping and cleanup, employee training and development, performance management and appraisal, health, safety & environmental matters, budgeting and cost control and warehouse procedure development and implementation. Additionally, the Supervisor is expected to interface with his colleagues and customers in other GBPC departments and to be a subject matter expert in inventory management and optimization to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.
Maintain health, safety and environmental standards by:
Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures,
Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and
Completing all the required HSE training.
Achieve performance results by:
Training, coaching, counseling and providing timely, objective and accurate feedback to Warehouse employees on performance.
Setting priorities and assigning tasks to Warehouse employees to ensure operational and tactical goals and plans are achieved.
Regularly meeting with Warehouse employees and other appropriate staff to ensure efforts are coordinated and aligned with GBPC goals and priorities.
Advising and informing customers and stakeholders within GBPC on matters related to inventory management and control.
Assisting in the development of departmental goals, budgets and plans for the Warehouse.
Meeting regularly with leadership and other GBPC leadership teams to develop, implement and review plans and priorities.
Ensure effective administration of the department by:
Developing, implementing and maintaining processes, procedures, files, records and databases for attendance, performance, training and other Human Resources related information, including (but not limited to) timesheets, attendance records, personnel files, appraisals, training, etc. Taking steps to ensure team cohesiveness and continuous individual performance improvement.
Developing, implementing and maintaining processes, procedures, files, records and databases for inspections, safety briefings, incident reports and other HSE related information. Taking steps to ensure the protection of life and health of people and the environment.
Developing, implementing and maintaining processes, procedures, files, records and databases for other Warehouse related operations as may be necessary to ensure the safe, efficient and effective running of the warehouse.
Issuing regular reports to various stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Accounting, HSE, Shared Services, T&D, Generation Operations, and Generation Maintenance.
In conjunction with other assigned personnel, developing, modifying and maintaining Inventory and/or Warehouse Management Systems (both electronic and hardcopy) for controlling inventory with particular focus on obsolescence and turnover ratios, cost surrounding operations, overheads and productivity.
Leading tailgate meetings and coordinating and/or participating in all required Health, Safety & Environmental programs.
Ensure operational efficiencies by:
Developing and implementing procedures and policies for Warehouse Operations.
Acting as internal subject matter expert in inventory management and warehouse operations and advising leadership in ways to optimize inventory.
Regularly auditing and inspecting inventory levels to ensure that the Warehouse never stocks out of critical spare parts and that excess and/or obsolete spares are kept to a minimum.
Working with Shared Services and other internal customers to standardize the types of spare parts maintained in stock.
Overseeing all major Warehouse Operations, including (but not limited to) stock movements, stock issuance and material issuance, stock replenishment, stock returns, cycle counts, housekeeping and inventory optimization.
Regularly auditing and inspecting equipment and operations within the Warehouse to ensure compliance to established policies, procedures and practices.
Serving on project and maintenance planning teams to support procurement planning and execution.
Relocating materials within warehouse to maintain accuracy, safety and efficiency of Stock.
Working with internal Customers to set stock levels and reorder points
Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness standards of Warehouse areas are maintained.
Conducting other tasks as directed by the VP of Generation & Engineering or designee.
The Warehouse Supervisor will have at least three (3) years’ experience as Storeman 1 or Supervisor, and at least seven (7) years general warehouse experience. He/she will be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Office, Word, and Excel), and computer-based inventory management systems, including mobile and desktop devices, will be able-bodied, able to lift 28lbs unassisted and able to operate a forklift. He/she will be a strong leader, self-directed, meticulous, thorough, excellent in planning and organization, and effective in communication – both orally and in writing.
A valid driver’s license is required. An associate’s degree is preferred, but consideration will be given to candidates with a high school diploma with BGCSE grades “C” or above in English and Mathematics
