Senior Accountant - Treasury and Payroll

Summary/Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant -Treasury and Payroll is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting of payroll, revenue and cash management activities. The incumbent ensures compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls while supporting month-end and year-end financial close processes. The role partners with Human Resources, Customer Operations, Treasury and external auditors to ensure efficient financial operations.

Maintain health, safety and environment standards by:
- Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards, and
- Completing all required HSE training.

Payroll Accounting
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of payroll accounting by:
- Overseeing payroll accounting, reconciliations, and reporting activities.
- Preparing payroll journal entries and reconciling payroll-related General Ledger accounts.
- Ensuring the timely remittance of statutory deductions, pensions, insurance, and other payroll obligations.
- Reviewing payroll transactions and timekeeping records to ensure compliance with Company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining effective payroll controls, supporting audits, and safeguarding the confidentiality of payroll information.

Cash Management
Responsible for supporting the Company's treasury and cash management activities by:
- Supporting cash flow forecasting, treasury accounting, and liquidity management.
- Identifying opportunities to improve cash management processes and internal controls.

Revenue Accounting
Responsible for ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of revenue accounting by:
- Preparing revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Monitoring and reconciling revenue, accounts receivable, and cash receipt transactions.
- Investigating revenue variances and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Preparing vendor and retiree billings and supporting monthly revenue reporting requirements.

Financial Reporting and Close Processes
Responsible for supporting the Company's financial reporting process by:
- Preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for month-end and year-end close.
- Analyzing account variances and ensuring the timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Supporting internal and external audits through the timely provision of financial information and documentation

Internal Controls & Continuous Improvement
Responsible for maintaining a strong financial control environment by:
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS, Company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining effective internal controls across payroll, revenue, and cash management processes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Supporting financial system enhancements, process automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Business Partnership
Responsible for fostering effective working relationships by:
- Partnering with Human Resources, Customer Operations, Treasury, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Providing financial guidance and support on payroll, revenue, and cash management matters.
- Participating in cross-functional initiatives that strengthen financial governance and operational effectiveness.


Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, along with a Certified Payroll Specialist (CPS) designation or an equivalent professional accounting qualification. They should have five to seven years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated expertise in payroll accounting, cash management, bank reconciliations, revenue recognition, financial reporting, journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, internal controls, and audit support. The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of integrity and confidentiality, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication skills. They must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintain a customer-focused approach, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives.
