Summary/Position Overview:

The Operations & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Grand Bahama Power Company's transmission, distribution and substation systems within the Customer Operations (COPs) Business Unit.

The incumbent provides operational leadership to supervisors, engineers, planners, power line technicians and other technical employees to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of electrical service. The Operations & Maintenance Manager implements departmental plans, oversees maintenance and capital work programs, manages operational resources and supports the achievement of departmental and corporate objectives through operational excellence, regulatory compliance and employee development


Duties and Tasks:

The O&M Manager will:

Provide leadership to maintain health, safety and environment standards by:
- Establishing maintenance and safety procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Ensuring compliance with all environmental and health standards
- Completing all required HSE training, and
- Developing standard operating procedures for safety and environment policies

Provide Operational leadership by:
- Directing the activities of supervisors, engineers, planners and technical employees to achieve departmental goals.
- Coordinating work priorities and allocating resources to ensure operational efficiency and timely completion of work.
- Monitoring employee performance and providing coaching, guidance and performance feedback.
- Promoting accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the department.
- Supporting succession planning and employee development to strengthen organizational capability.

Maintain Safe and Reliable Operations by:
- Ensuring compliance with Company health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Promoting safe work practices and ensuring employees and contractors comply with established procedures.
- Supporting emergency response, storm restoration and business continuity activities.
- Monitoring field operations and implementing corrective actions to mitigate operational risks.
- Ensuring mandatory safety training and regulatory certifications are maintained.

Optimize System Performance by:
- Monitoring transmission, distribution and substation system performance to improve reliability and operational effectiveness.
- Analyzing equipment failures, outage trends and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinating root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions to reduce recurring failures.
- Supporting asset management initiatives through maintenance planning and equipment condition assessments.
- Recommending equipment upgrades and operational improvements based on performance analysis.

Deliver Maintenance and Capital Work Programs by:
- Directing the execution of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment availability.
- Coordinating the operational delivery of capital projects to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule and within approved budgets.
- Reviewing maintenance schedules, outage plans and switching activities to ensure operational readiness.
- Monitoring contractor performance to ensure compliance with Company standards, specifications and safety requirements.
- Ensuring engineering documentation, maintenance records and asset information remain accurate and current.

Manage Financial and Operational Resources by:
- Preparing and monitoring departmental operating and capital budgets.
- Managing departmental expenditures to ensure effective financial stewardship.
- Monitoring project costs and operational spending and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Supporting forecasting and resource planning activities to meet operational requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and optimize resource utilization.

Develop People and Build Organizational Capability by:
- Leading, coaching and mentoring employees to achieve departmental objectives.
- Establishing clear performance expectations and conducting ongoing performance discussions.
- Supporting competency development through training, mentoring and career development opportunities.
- Encouraging employee engagement, teamwork and accountability.
- Building succession readiness by identifying and developing future leaders.

Strengthen Operational Excellence by:
- Implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity and customer service.
- Reviewing operational processes and recommending improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Supporting the implementation of new technologies, systems and operational best practices.
- Maintaining departmental procedures, standards and work instructions.
- Monitoring departmental performance indicators and reporting operational results to the Director.

Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Governance by:
- Ensuring departmental compliance with Company policies, regulatory requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Maintaining accurate operational, engineering and maintenance records.
- Supporting internal and external audits and implementing corrective actions as required.
- Monitoring contractor compliance with Company policies and contractual obligations.
- Supporting risk management initiatives by identifying, assessing and mitigating operational risks.

Foster Effective Stakeholder Relationships by:
- Collaborating with internal departments to coordinate operational activities and planned outages.
- Providing technical advice and operational support to cross-functional teams.
- Building productive relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers and regulatory agencies.
- Responding to operational issues and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Representing the department on committees, project teams and operational working groups.

Contribute to team effort by completing other duties as assigned.






Academic/Skill/Experience Requirements:

The candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent) program, with at least six years of engineering experience in an industrial environment. Proven experience managing operation and capital budgets exceeding $1MM. Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred. Strong working knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and practices related to transmission, distribution, and substation equipment. Proficient in reading and understanding single-line and schematic drawings. Demonstrated commitment to safety, including solid knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out practices. Brings strong technical, analytical, presentation, and project management skills, with a solid grasp of general engineering processes. Ability to work in both routine and emergency field environments, including conducting site visits to substations and T&D assets and leading restoration efforts during storms and other emergency conditions.
