POSITION SUMMARY

 

Assists in service and maintaining all Maniilaq vehicles, including but not limited to cars, 4-wheel drive trucks, 4 wheelers, snow removal equipment and snow machines under the direction of the Lead Mechanical Technician.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.       Inspects repairs and maintains functional parts of automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery, such as cars and 4-wheel drive trucks, using hand and power tools as required and in a safe manner.

2.       Inspects defective equipment and helps diagnose malfunctions, using pressure gages, and factory manuals.

3.       Assists with disassembly and overhaul of small engines, transmissions, clutches, and rear ends, using proper tools.

4.       Adjust brakes, tightens bolts and screws, and reassembles equipment with all appropriate parts.

5.       Operates equipment to test its functioning.

6.       Change oil, check batteries, repairs tires and tubes and lubricate equipment and machinery.

7.       Works with the Lead Mechanical Technical to identify parts, by name and part number, needed to perform repairs and maintenance.

8.       Helps keep comprehensive records of repairs and maintenance performed on all vehicles and equipment.

9.       Must be able to travel and work in extreme environments.

10.    Maintains a clean and organized shop area, ensuring that all hazardous materials are properly labeled and stored.

11.    Complies with safety regulations including confined space and Right-to-Know.

12.    Work with Lead Mechanical Technician to acquire adequate equipment to meet Maniilaq Association needs.

13.    Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

At least one year experience repairing passenger and light-duty vehicles.  Must possess current Alaska Driver License and have a good enough driving history to be insured to drive Maniilaq vehicles.
