POSITION SUMMARY
Performs general maintenance within the Maniilaq Health Center (MHC). Maintains all heating, ventilating, compressed air, vacuum, boilers, plumbing, refrigeration, building automation and water treatment systems. Major tasks include but are not limited to inspection, preventative maintenance, decision making, ensuring energy savings, and adjusting a variety of mechanical equipment and parts using related tools, and test equipment. Work includes both inside and outside activities, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 70+ pounds, working at heights and in confined spaces.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
TECHNICIAN I:
Must have some knowledge of building/maintenance systems to perform tasks in a cost efficient manner. Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in such a manner to successfully accomplish the job, including all safety aspects of the job. Qualifies to wear a respirator or hood type protector that may be required to perform certain functions, and pass a yearly breathing certification test. Must be detail oriented and able to work successfully in a variety of tasks. Ability to lift 70+ pounds. Must possess current Alaska driver's license and have a good enough driving history to be insured to drive Maniilaq vehicles or obtain within 30 days of hire. Must obtain the 80 hour Boiler Operator Certification within 90 of hire.
TECHNICIAN II
All requirements of a Technician I plus two years of experience and/or completion of formal apprentice program/trade school. Must possess Alaska driver’s license. Must have a current 80 Boiler Operator Certification.
TECHNICIAN III
All requirements of a Technician II plus 5 years of direct hospital maintenance experience. Completion of formal apprentice program/trade school preferred. Must have a current 80 Boiler Operator Certification.
