POSITION SUMMARY
Registration Clerk l: Interviews patients or their representative to get personal and insurance information. Verifies insurance information with appropriate insurers. Enters and updates this information into the computer. Contacts insurers by phone for pre-authorization when required. Provides on call coverage for ER registration as scheduled. Reports directly to the Patient Financial Services Director.
Registration Clerk ll:
Interviews patients or their representative to get personal and insurance information. Verifies insurance information and obtains pre-authorization and/or pre-certification as needed. Enters and updates this verified information into the computer. Assigns chart numbers from Medical Records listing and prepares charts. Provides Medicaid information to new parents and assists with obtaining Medicaid number. Provides on call coverage for ER registration as scheduled. Reports directly to the Patient Financial Services Director.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Registration Clerk l: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have good customer service skills and be a team player. A healthcare background is preferred, but not required. Must display good telephone etiquette in order to deal appropriately with the public and insurance companies. Must be able to type at least 25 words per minute on a computer. Must be able to sort alphabetically and numerically. Must have the ability to prioritize and carry out daily duties in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision. Must be willing to be a team player. Registration Clerk ll: High School Diploma or equivalent. RPMS experience with basic Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Minimum two years’ experience in tribal healthcare. Must demonstrate mastery the Registration Technician I responsibilities. Must have good customer service skills. Must display good telephone etiquette in order to deal appropriately with the public and insurance companies. Must be able to type at least 25 words per minute on a computer. Must have the ability to prioritize and carry out daily duties in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision. Must be willing to be a team player.
