POSITION SUMMARY

 

The CAC Program Manager has overall program and administrative responsibility for the Child Advocacy Center (CAC).  The CAC assists children and families impacted by sexual abuse, physical abuse and exposure to violence.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1. Responsible for the overall financial management of the CAC Program including preparing financial and narrative program reports for review by the Board of Directors and program funding sources.   

2. Seek and apply for other sources of funding that will benefit the CAC.        

3. Maintain Protocols and Memorandums of Agreement to improve the delivery and coordination of services and develop policies to clarify staff roles in the delivery of services. 

4. Participate in staff meetings, interviewer supervision meetings, training programs, and outreach to the community.

5. Create and implement quality assurance elements including standards for expert testimony, interagency team facilitation and medical examinations.

6. Maintain quality assurance standards for intake and interviewing while respecting each client’s unique cultural identity.

7. Participate as a member of the MDT to maintain multi-disciplinary meetings and case reviews on all CAC cases.

8. Conduct assessments and interview child victims and make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed in accordance with appropriate Protocols and Memorandums of Agreements.

9. Coordinate with Maniilaq Health Center, Alaska State Troopers, Kotzebue Police Department and the District Attorney’s office to ensure effective forensic examination and evidence collection for the use in criminal prosecutions. 

10. Use case tracking system to ensure clients receive services from all applicable providers and ensure all appropriate data is collected.

11. Provide advocacy, case management and follow-up services to clients to ensure they are informed of available resources (medical, counseling, legal, etc.).

12. Participate in the Statewide CAC Work Group and Alaska Children’s Alliance meetings and work with the National Children’s Alliance (NCA)/Western Regional CAC staff to ensure Center is in compliance with all applicable NCA Standards.

13. Remain abreast of all Federal and State laws impacting child abuse victims, parents and offenders.

14. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.

15. Others duties as assigned by the Director of Tribal Services.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor’s degree and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze and interpret relevant literature, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, multi-disciplinary team members and the general public. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and possess the ability to communicate effectively. Experience in conducting forensic interviews highly desirable.  Must possess strong knowledge of the dynamics of child development and child abuse. Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative manner with diverse professional groups and clients with diverse backgrounds. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must possess basic computer knowledge and skills in the use of the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be able to travel.  This highly sensitive position requires an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, as well as skills in working effectively with children who are predominately Alaska Native.
