POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Tribal Youth Coordinator will be responsible for the management of youth services to ensure goals and objectives are met and reports are completed. The Coordinator will work in collaboration with regional, state and federal agencies to develop plans for youth services within the Maniilaq Service Area.  The Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the training and evaluation with all grant activities.  This position reports directly to the Maniilaq Wellness Program Manager.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

 

1.       Work to establish, train and support village wellness teams, as well as track regional youth activities.

2.       Frequent travel to villages to support services to reduce youth delinquency, promote cultural protective factors and prevent youth suicide within the Maniilaq Services Area.

3.       Collaborate with all villages in the Maniilaq Services Area to develop and sustain policies and protocols for youth delinquency and prevention activities.

4.       Coordinate with other Maniilaq services and programs to promote and refer regional youth for additional services.

5.       Engage with regional youth by promoting cultural and community activities and mentor development.

6.       Collaborate with regional schools to develop and assist with Wellness Workshops and Support Youth Leader programs.

7.       Communicate with regional institutions to keep them updated of youth services development and needs.

8.       Provide community-based wellness and prevention retreats / camps / sessions at the village and regional levels.

9.       Responsible for submitting to the Wellness Program Supervisor all program activities to ensure reports are accurate and on time.

10.    Work with the Evaluator to collect and analyze data, maintain database, and send support letters as scheduled.

11.    Maintain confidentiality of all client staff, and division related information as per State and Federal Regulations, Policies, BHS policies and procedures, and Staff Code of Conduct.

 

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

 

Knowledge of the local community.  High School Diploma or GED.  Criminal Printout Required. No Felony conviction or any record involving physical or sexual abuse.

 

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Wellness Coordinator I: Range 14

High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1-year leadership experience with youth or adults. Minimum 1-year community development experience preferably in the Northwest Alaska or Similar region. Must have ability to work with minimal supervision. Have the ability to work in teams and ability to develop teams. Ability and willingness to travel in small aircraft to villages within Maniilaq’s service area.

 

Wellness Coordinator II:  Range 15

Must meet all the requirements of Wellness Coordinator I, plus have related Associates degree, or Rural Human Services (RHS) certificate or 3 years of Leadership experience. 

 

Wellness Coordinator III: Range 16

Meet all the requirements of Wellness Coordinator II, plus have a related Bachelors’ degree or Five (5) years leadership experience.
