POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under the direction of CHAP Program Manager is responsible for improving the quality of patient encounters at village clinics through training and clinical supervision of Maniilaq CHAPs. Facilitates teamwork throughout the CHAP Program with particular attention to assigned villages. Travels to villages to evaluate, train and provide coverage. This position may be based in the village or Kotzebue.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1.             Maintains routine contact with assigned village clinics. 

2.             Models above the line behavior and communicates/interacts with City and IRA offices regarding clinic issues.

3.             Makes 3 C/I visits to assigned village and one visit to each remaining village per year to accomplish training and support activities (utilizing C/I village checklist).

4.             Reviews patient-encounter forms (PEFs) from assigned villages: Monitor thoroughness of documentation and practices within scope and correct use of medical standing orders (MSOs).

5.             Participates in CHAP team plan including planning, monitoring and data collection.

6.             Participates in multi-disciplinary work teams that support CHAPs and improve program operations.

7.             Assists CHAPs with academic opportunities.

8.             Coordinates and/or conducts Pre-session Training.

9.             Responsible for one or more of these activities to be divided among Coordinator/Instructors:

a.        Develops training curricula as needed and delivers courses for CME

b.       Maintains training files  (CMEs) for all CHPs

c.        Maintains clinical-visit files for all clinics

10.          Tracks essential CHA/P training and certificate expiration dates and assists with CHA/P recertification applications.

11.          Participate in statewide CHAP Program efforts that affect Maniilaq CHP’s, on one or more of the following:

a.        Academic Review Committee

b.       CHAM Revision Committee

c.        CHAP Training Center Review & Approval Committee

12.          Participates in multidisciplinary inspections that ensure Joint Commission accreditation of village clinics.

13.          Assists assigned clinics with properly submitting maintenance work orders and follows them to completion.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

High School Diploma or equivalent plus must be Board Certified and a Community Health Practitioner (CHP) in good standing.  Two years of clinical practice experience.  Training experience preferred.  Knowledge of Inupiaq culture, language and customs preferred.  Must be innovative and open to new ideas.  Have a positive outlook and be able to interact with a diverse group of co-workers and patients. Dependable, open, honest, willing to take that extra minute to give feedback in a warm and caring way.
