Title: Pharmacy Technician I Range: 12 + 8 Steps

POSITION SUMMARY
Assists pharmacists with inventory and inspections, including maintaining records of such. Receives and processes orders, packages drugs. Maintains pharmacy spaces in orderly manner.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction and supervision of a licensed Registered Pharmacist:
Title: Pharmacy Technician II Range: 13 + 8 steps
Title: Pharmacy Technician III Range: 14 + 8 steps
Assists pharmacists with inventory and inspections, including maintaining records of such. Receives and processes orders, packages drugs. Maintains pharmacy spaces in orderly manner. Provides on-call back up support to assist licensed registered Pharmacist.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS I
High school diploma or equivalent. College level course work in chemistry to medical related disciplines preferred. Must be in process of obtaining a pharmacy technician license from the State of Alaska. Must be able to successfully pass the State of Alaska background check for licensing requirement. Ability to make accurate measurements and conversions from the English Metric measurement systems. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals. Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand for prolong periods of time. Need to be familiar with the use of computers.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS II
High school graduate or equivalent. College level course work in chemistry to medical related disciplines preferred. Obtain a pharmacy technician license from the State of Alaska before beginning work. Ability to make accurate measurements and conversions from the English Metric measurement systems. Experience in a clinical setting and familiar with medical terminology is required. Willingness to attend job related training and education programs. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals. Must be willing to be on call in times of declared disasters. Familiar with JCAHO requirements and documentation in patient files. Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs., stand for prolong periods of time. Must be able to successfully pass the State of Alaska background check for licensing requirement. Must be familiar with RPMS or equivalent used in the department Must have 6 months previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician I. Must be familiar with the current drug wholesale order system or equivalent. Alaska Pharmacy Technician License required
