POSITION SUMMARY
Provides first line health care (emergency, acute, chronic, and preventative) at Maniilaq Associations village health clinics. As directed by the CHAP Manager or their designee, travels to villages frequently with periods of work away from home. Provides CHAP services in home village when not on assignment in another village. Frequently works in clinics with minimal staffing and support in order maintain health services. Provides on-call coverage for after-hours and emergencies. Reports directly to the CHAP Manager and when traveling is expected to integrate onto teams supervised by a Clinic Supervisor.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct observation of a credentialed Community Health Practitioner and/or other authorized observers by CHAP Manager approval only:
a. Evaluation and treatment of acute problems.
b. Report patients to MHC providers per practice guidelines. May report to other MHC licensed staff as appropriate.
6. 6. Helps maintain P.O.C. and D.E.A. controlled drug logs.
8. 8. Provides direct observation and guidance of new hire and lower level CHA’s.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
CHA II:
Meets all the minimum requirements of a CHA I which include a high school diploma or equivalent, pass minimum TABE requirements, successful completion of Pre-Session, ETT or EMT, and Session I. Must also have completed Session II training. Under the Supervising Physician must complete and maintain MSO test’s indicated by level of training. Must attend training as scheduled. Must work toward and maintain CHAP Board Certification. Must be willing to travel as directed and willing to provide health services on a routine and emergency basis. Must have the ability to provide services under stressful situations. Ability to lift 50lbs., stand and or sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to speak Inupiaq desirable.
CHA III:
All of the above qualifications for CHA II plus successful completion of Session III training. Under the Supervising Physician must complete and maintain MSO test’s indicated by level of training.
CHA IV:
All of the above qualifications for CHA III plus successful completion of Session IV training. Under the Supervising Physician must complete and maintain MSO test’s indicated by level of training.
CHP:
All of the above qualifications for CHA IV and Preceptorship as required to maintain current credentialing as a Community Health Practitioner. Under the Supervising Physician must complete and maintain all MSO tests.
