Director of Clinical Informatics

Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the CIO, the Clinical Informatics Director provides leadership in the implementation, management, use and adoption of Information Systems in the Maniilaq Health Center and village clinics. This individual works with key medical, nursing, ancillary and administration staff to ensure alignment and implementation of technology to support Maniilaq operations. The Clinical Informatics Director represents and promotes Maniilaq’s interests in the Shared Domain (Cerner EHR) partnership with ANTHC and other partners.
 
Job Qualifications:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES 
1. Manages and supervises the Clinical Informatics department and related operations.
2. Provides overall management of clinical software applications. 
3. Makes recommendations to departmental and hospital management for improvement, quality assurance, or curtailment of health information systems.
4. Coordinates the intra-departmental efforts in maintaining and improving the quality and accuracy of medical and healthcare data with eHealth systems used within Maniilaq Association.
5. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Health Information Plan through coordination with other Directors and Program Managers in compliance with applicable regulatory entities.
6. Serves as the IT representative on the MHC Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
7. Represents Maniilaq as a voting member of the Shared Domain EHR Steering Committee (ESC).
8. Ensures that all patient information available to health care providers is accessed appropriately and on a “need to know” basis. 
9. Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of hardware and software necessary in delivery of health care.
10. Ensures 24/7 support is provided through appropriate on-call staff.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

BA degree in computer science or related field. Degree may be substituted for 8 years equivalent work experience in a position demonstrating the ability to perform essential functions of this position. Direct experience working in the Alaska Tribal Health System preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and written. 5 years supervisory experience preferred.
