POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for carrying out the daily program for clients of group home as assigned on each shift. This position works
under
the supervision of the HCB Waiver Program Manager.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Provides direct client care in a normalized living environment, assuring residents' growth, safety, and health, based upon a least restrictive' individual-centered model.

2.  Provides individualized skills training to residents in the areas of ADLs (cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, proper dressing; etc.), budgeting, and culturally relevant socialization and recreational activities.

3.  Participates in the design, currency, and on-going implementation of individualized service plans for all residents, maximizing the use of community resources.

4.  Arranges for and transports individuals to required medical, dental, vision, and other therapeutic appointments, as well as on shopping trips and to recreational activities, including those taken out of the area.

5.  Assures the availability, proper dispensing and necessary charting of client medication.

6.  Assures that the residents' personal expense accounts are accurate and up-to-date.

7.  Completes all required documentation, and helps maintain the home's physical plant, transportation, communication equipment, and provision of house supplies.

8.  Complies with SDS Program Standards, state residential licensing requirements, and Medicaid Waiver requirements.

9.  Maintains the required State licensing continuing education hours annually.

10. Maintains the ability to be flexible with scheduling coverage for given shifts.

 

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Residential Assistant I:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred. The desire to work with people with developmental disabilities. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Obtains within 6 months of employment CPR/First Aid certification, and MAR - Medication Administration Record certification. Ability to accurately and efficiently use standard office computer equipment and software, faxes, copiers, telephones, and 2-way radios. Alaska Driver’s License Preferred.

 

Residential Assistant II:

Requirements of a RA I: Certification of State of Alaska Basic Care Coordination training with a minimum of 3 years work experience as a Residential Assistant I. Must have current Alaska Driver’s license with a good enough record to be insured to drive Maniilaq vehicles.

Residential Assistant III:

Requirements of a RA I/II: 5 years’ work experience as a Residential Assistant.
