POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for supporting the counseling needs of children in emergency care at Putyuk Children’s Home.  Assists with the youth’s daily needs and activities. Position reports to Lead Youth Counselor.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Ensures that intake and discharge information are complete on each child/youth.

2.       Assists with individual, group and family counseling with children and youth.

3.       Provides crisis intervention services.

4.       Leads recreational, educational and daily living activities that are developmentally appropriate for a variety of ages.

5.       Assisting children with learning to manage their own behavior through a variety of techniques.

6.       Participates in staffing for each child along with other staff.

7.       Supports youth in developing independent living skills.

8.       Participates in on-call rotation with other staff.

9.       Performs other routine duties when necessary to maintain a safe and receptive environment for infants, toddlers, children and youth.

10.    Ensures that client files are up-to-date and accurate.

11.    Compiles statistical data for use in a variety of reports.

12.    Compiles with licensing and sanitation regulations that provide a happy and safe haven for displaced children and youth.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Sixty hours of college credit or an AA degree in a human services field.  Two years of experience in the Human Services field may be substituted for education. Two years of documented experience in volunteer or work settings with children and/or youth.  Ability to work with sensitivity in a cross-cultural environment. OCS Background Check required.
