POSITION SUMMARY
The Remote Technician Manager’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the Information Technology (IT) Division is in alignment with the business objectives of the regional needs for Internet services and projects that need to be accomplished throughout the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities of the service area facilities, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT Technicians in the remote locations. The Remote Technician Manager will work closely with the IT Director and Chief Information Officer to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the regional needs for village implementation. Reports to the IT Director.
1. Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all village systems, including PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
2. Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the village infrastructure and village systems.
3. Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
4. Approve and oversee projects that pertain to village services.
5. Assist in the implementation of all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provisioning.
6. Administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
7. Practice asset management for village hardware, software, and equipment.
8. Manage IT staffing in remote sites including recruitment, supervision, planning projects, organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources, fostering innovation, strategic planning of daily operations, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
9. Maintain regular written and in-person communications with the IT Director regarding pertinent IT activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Five years management experience in computer field. College education in computer science may be substituted for experience year for year. Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems. Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards. Extensive application support experience. Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
