POSITION SUMMARY

Provides scheduling to the patients of the Outpatient Program and maintains the providers’ schedules in computer systems. Also will perform tasks, such as answering phones, greeting patients and handling appointment related correspondence. Reports directly to the Outpatient Manager.

                               

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Answers in-coming calls, and schedules patient appointments for the Outpatient Program.

2.       Carries out receptionist duties including re-scheduling, and confirming patient appointments.

3.       Prioritize and communicate information to maintain an accurate appointment system.

4.       Must handle a high call volume quickly and accurately, while maintaining courtesy to the patients.

5.       Maintains and updates provider schedules in the RPMS.

6.       Responsible for dealing with all scheduling queries from patients and hospital administration.

7.       Prepares reports and statistics, as required by supervisor, for reporting to the hospital administration.

8.       Ensures office and work space is adequately equipped, supplied, maintained and prepares purchase and work orders as needed.

9.       Copy information and distributes to Outpatient Program staff.

10.    Maintains up-to-date telephone list of Maniilaq Health Center Programs.

11.    Coordinates schedules between providers, nurses, staff and other Programs.

12.    Maintains strict confidentially of all patient and Outpatient business within the program.

13.    Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED required. Ability to utilize various computer programs and type well enough to carry out job duties efficiently. Exceptional communication and people skills required. Ability to perform repetitive hand motion for extended periods of time. Must be able to multitask and handle multiple providers scheduling. Health industry experience is a plus. Medical terminology course is required within 1 year. Requires an excellent work ethic, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
