POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Corporate Safety Officer, will establish and maintain a culture of safety excellence and safeguard compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. Includes developing and implementing an effective corporate safety program with appropriate policies and protocols to ensure that all Maniilaq employees work in an environment that embraces a culture of safety. The Corporate Safety Officer Reports to Chief Compliance Officer (CCO).

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  2. Ensure the highest safety compliance standards and a healthy work setting for staff, visitors, and vendors.
  3. Monitor and stay updated on safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to the industry.
  4. Support emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing evacuation plans and procedures for each non Maniilaq Health Services (MHS) facility.
  5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  6. Collaborate with Maniilaq Association (MA) leadership teams and the MHS Safety Officer to achieve alignment of safety initiatives organization-wide, and ensure the integration of safety practices into daily operations.
  7. Protects the assets of MA by undertaking activities to identify, evaluate, and reduce the likelihood of human injury and risk of loss to the organization.
  8. Provide regular reports to the Maniilaq Executive Leadership Team (MELT) as requested, and to the Maniilaq Board of Directors as needed.
  9. Develop, implement, and maintain strategies, plans, policies, and procedures to protect employees, equipment, property, and facilities from workplace health and safety hazards.
  10. Provide regular safety training sessions and organize impactful safety campaigns to promote awareness
  11. On-Call as required.
Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene or a related field. At least three years of experience in a safety, compliance, or a related field. Willingness to gain safety-related certifications as necessary.

Familiar with compliance with OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations. Experience with Project Management. Strong attention to detail and good organization skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Excel).
