POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing support for Cancer Program.  Assists Cancer program Manager in tracking cancer screenings, cancer patient follow up and education/Survivorship activities.  Works with staff in Cancer program to promote cancer screening and tobacco prevention and cessation.    Reports to the Cancer Clinical Nurse Manager. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages reminders for cancer program.
  2. Manages a patient tracking and reminder system for support screening adherence.
  3. Develop and implement in-reach and out-reach strategies to promote screening.
  4. Uses appropriate data collection forms and/or site database to record outcome of all out/in-reach efforts, test(s) scheduled, screening outcomes, and follow-up and/or referral activities.
  5. Assists with Referral Services for Specialty and OPD Clinic as assigned, including, management of patient databases and pending follow-up.
  6. Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.
  7. Treats all patients and staff with dignity and respect.
  8. Assists with Specialty surgery field clinics and scheduling of appointments and lodging as required.
  9. Provides good telephone etiquette, and displays good customer service. Also attends customer service when required.
  10. Responsible for maintaining office supplies, and restocking/reordering for Cancer program.
  11. Responsible for making staff travel/lodging arrangements
  12. Assists with Education and travel to schools to promote health and wellness.
  13. Attend ANTHC tobacco prevention specialist training within 1 year of start date.
  14. Assists with other duties as assigned by program manager.

 

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent; six months previous health service experience preferred.  Knowledge of Cerner system preferred. Ability to utilize various computer programs and type well enough to carry out job duties efficiently.  Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.  Requires good interpersonal and communication skills.  Requires strong organizational skills and ability to maintain file and computer database systems.
