POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the medical-forensic assessment and examination for adolescent and adult patients reporting a history of interpersonal violence, such as sexual assault or domestic violence. Accountable for the delivery of quality nursing care to this population according to the individualized needs of the patient by utilizing the nursing process, approved scope and standards, and in accordance with the Alaska Nurse Practice Act. RN must be competent to assess and analyze patient information and history with an understanding of the cognitive, physical, cultural, emotional/psychological, spiritual, and chronological maturation process. RN must function within an environment of crisis involving sensitive interpersonal violence issues, often in conjunction with physical trauma, psychological trauma, and substance use. Accepts and promotes professional development as an integral part of evidence based nursing practice. Responsible to work in collaboration with law enforcement and advocacy agencies to provide quality services to all clients who present to Maniilaq Health center. RN develops and maintains good working relationships with team members to ensure the team response is patient centered and sensitive. Reports to the Registered Nurse/SART Coordinator and Educator.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university and have a current Alaska licensure as a Registered Nurse. ACLS preferred; must be willing to get ACLS training within 90 days of hire. Current SANE-A and/or SANE-P certification preferred; must be willing to get SANE-A certification within 18 months of hire. Ability to lift up to up to 70 pounds and spend long periods of time standing or walking. May be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. Must be able to pass the annual core competencies assigned to the unit. Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
