POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the EMS Program Manager this position is responsible for supporting and developing regional emergency skills and certification(s) of: lay responders, community members, volunteers, CHA/Ps, EMTs and others. This will be accomplished through strategic partnerships in regional communities, identifying and working with community leaders, development of independent regional instructors, and by providing access to education directly when it is otherwise not accessible. The importance of developing relationships and a network of individuals who can act as resources cannot be understated and requires strong interpersonal skills, exceptional customer service, and a willingness to go above and beyond expectations. This position will give direct input based on successes and challenges that influence the short term operation and mid to long term strategic direction of EMS systems development. Reports directly to the EMS Program Manager or designee.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent and current certification to instruct American Heart Association classes. Must be eligible to be certified as a State of Alaska EMT. Have a minimum of Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) certification or achieve certification in the first 90 days of employment. Must be willing and able to obtain ETT Instructor certification within 18 months of hire. Have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to be covered under Maniilaq’s driver’s insurance policy. Knowledge of Inupiaq culture, language and customs preferred. Must be innovative and open to new ideas. Must be willing to work weekends a minimum of up to three times per month when assigned and commute in small planes to class locations. Scheduling is flexible with a minimum of 40 work hours per week. Must be able to bend, kneel, stand, and perform physical tasks associated with EMS such as lifting and moving patients; must be capable of vertically lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
All the requirements of Regional Development/Instructor Specialist I plus two (2) years experience in the Regional Development/Instructor Specialist role or equivalent as determined by the EMS department. Must hold a current Alaska EMTII or National Registry license of greater or equal level of certification as determined by Regional EMS Office or State of Alaska. Must possess a current EMT Instructor license with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and complete an EMT course.
All the requirements of Regional Development/Instructor Specialist II plus two (2) years experience in the Regional Development/Instructor Specialist II role or equivalent as determined by the EMS department. Must hold a current valid Alaska AEMT/MICP or National Registry license of greater or equal level of certification as determined by Regional EMS Office or State of Alaska. Must have a current EMT Instructor license with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and complete an EMTII and EMTIII course, with a desire in progressing to instruct AEMT courses.
