POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for the supervision of all clinical support staff and the daily clinical operations of the Maniilaq Health Center Dental Clinic.  Collaborates with the Lead Dentist in the continual assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation of services provided and the development of operational goals and objectives.  Ensures the continual development, training, and certification of clinical support staff.  Administers clinic workflows that optimize dental provider effectiveness and result in an exceptional patient care experience.  Reports directly to the Ancillary Services Director or designee.

 

A licensed Dental Provider serving as the Dental Operation Supervisor will perform the principle duties and responsibilities of a Dental Provider as well as the following:

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensures productive, efficient, and safe day-to-day clinical operations.

  2. Collaborates with Lead Dentist in creating department standards and goals.

  3. Assures progress of departmental goals and objectives through weekly team meetings.

  4. Participates in the development and administration of the clinic budget. 

  5. Responsible for maintaining and improving clinic cleanliness, organization, and infection control standards.

  6. Responsible for enforcing policies and procedures. 

  7. Supervises all clinical support staff and the Dental Assistant Coordinator. 

  8. Leads the continuous development, training, and certification of clinical support staff.

  9. Ensures all initial and annual employee evaluations and competencies are completed in a timely fashion.

  10. Responsible for tracking and optimizing employee schedules, village visits, and personal time off.

  11. Prepares and authorizes payroll, and monitors attendance of clinical support staff.

  12. Oversees staffing levels, collaborates with HR to recruit and hire, and ensures all areas are properly staffed. 

  13. Professionally communicates to staff and patients, and trains staff in customer service.

  14. Collaborates with Lead Dentist and Dental Front Desk Supervisor to monitor patient concerns/complaints.

  15. Notifies Engineering, Biomedical Service, and other technical support services as needed; and serves as clinic liaison for repairs and upgrades of clinic equipment.

  16. Responsible for complying with Joint Commission standards, HIPAA standards, and ensures compliance with state and federal licensure or regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, Indian Health Services requirements, and other regulations, guidelines, requirements, and statutes as applicable.

  17. Ensures that required reports and assigned deliverables are submitted on time.

  18. Will provide direct patient care intermittently throughout the week as a Dental Provider.

  19. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree (2 years equivalent education) and/or 2 years management/supervisory experience. Dental Health Aide Therapist (DHAT) or DDS, preferred.  Familiarity with the efficient and effective provision of dental services. Must possess strong technical, administrative, organizational, and communication skills. Requires exceptional attendance and the ability to work independently. Knowledge of Dentrix and Cerner EHR system preferred. Ability to use various computer programs to carry out job duties. Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality following HIPPA at all times. Able to use tiger text to communicate with MHC and ANMC teams.
