POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Communications Director, the Communications Specialist serves as the primary production and digital operations staff member for the Maniilaq Association Communications Department. This role supports internal and external communications across a 700-employee tribal healthcare organization comprising tribal government services, a Critical Access Hospital, Long-Term Care facilities, village clinics, and Behavioral Health and Social Services divisions.
The Specialist is responsible for graphic design and visual production, website content management, intranet administration, digital asset and photo archive management, social media production, written content creation, video and multimedia support, and day-to-day operation of the department's project intake and tracking system. The role uses Al-assisted tools responsibly within organizational policy, manages digital accessibility compliance for web content, and ensures all communications meet brand standards, HIPM requirements, and Alaska Native cultural protocols under the direction of the Communications Director.
This is a hands-on, high-volume production role in a small department. The Specialist must be self-directed, technically proficient, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects across diverse subject areas including clinical services, behavioral health, tribal governance, community outreach, and emergency communications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent. Skilled in technical or news writing, editing and preparing publication and other material for print or internet publication. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience working with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva and WordPress preferred. Portfolio of work will be required during the interview process.
