POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Projects Manager serves as a key strategic and operational leader within Maniilaq Health Center (MHC), operating under the direction of the Vice President of Health Services. This role is responsible for managing and executing a broad portfolio of special projects, programs, and initiatives that advance the mission and operational excellence of MHC and its village clinic network. Advises and consults with the VP of Health Services on patient care issues and service problems. Willing to learn all aspects of Maniilaq Health Center (MHC) operations and spend time in specific departments to better understand the provision of services by MHC and village clinics. This position serves as the official Public Relations Liaison on behalf of the VP of Health Services, leads community health engagement efforts such as village Health Fairs, and supports system mapping and workflow improvement initiatives across the organization.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with projects and programs throughout Maniilaq Health Center as assigned by VP of Health Services
Initially spends the time necessary to become more familiar with the areas outlined by direct supervisor. Assists in developing and implementing department-specific plans and initiatives to improve department performance.
Participates in the meetings of the Executive Leadership Team and the Maniilaq Health Services Committee of the Board of Directors.
Assists MHS Directors and Program Managers in the development and monitoring of performance of individual program budgets.
Assists in the development of program reports to the governing body or to meet agency reporting requirements.
Assists in preparation and participates in annual negotiations for funding agreement with Indian Health Service.
Represents Maniilaq Health Services at local, state, and national meetings as assigned.
Attends Statewide leadership meetings with Maniilaq Executive Leadership Team when requested by the VP of Health Services
Assists in planning and development of mentorship program for youth seeking healthcare careers.
Takes Administrative call rotationally as assigned by VP of Health Services
Develops and produces communication materials to promote Maniilaq Health Center and Healthy Communities initiatives
Serves as the official Public Relations Liaison with external organizations on behalf of the VP of Health Services as requested
Fulfills the role of Public Relations Designee within the MHC Incident Command Team
Oversees and organizes Health Fairs across all villages within the Maniilaq service region
Manages all aspects of planning, logistics, vendor/partner coordination, and community outreach
Coordinates system mapping initiatives to analyze, visualize, and improve organizational workflows and processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
An Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience in relevant area (business, finance or allied health field) preferred. Excellent communication skills a must; particularly the ability to effectively communicate and work with multiple divisions/departments and individuals. Experience using Microsoft Systems, developing Power Point presentations and utilizations of Excel spreadsheets preferred. Excellent verbal and written skills.
