Junior Credentialing Specialist

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

SUMMARY: The junior credentialing specialist works with the senior specialist to maintain credentialing files for physicians, advanced practitioners and other clinical staff members, including maintaining licensure and other credentials necessary for employment and continued medical practice with MedSpring. Must research and understand State, Federal and payer-based credentialing and qualification requirements while effectively coordinating and interpretation, implementation, and ongoing management of credentialing and corporate policies and procedures necessary to achieve and maintain delegated credentialing status with external entities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Intermediate knowledge of PCs, word processing and data entry. Knowledge of credentialing individual providers with different insurance companies from the practice/facility side is preferred. 

EDUCATION: Associate’s / Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred. High school diploma required. 

EXPERIENCE: 1+ years of recent healthcare contracting and credentialing experience preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Review, document, and execute contractual credentialing and provider qualification requirements including verifying and following up on provider licensing, education, and actively assisting in the licensing process when needed.
  • Execute credentialing and corporate policies and procedures necessary to achieve and maintain delegated credentialing status
  • Maintain and track provider information throughout our systems (CAQH, CMD, PV, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Responsible for “reminder” emails (Collabs, license expirations, required documentation)
  • Communicate and coordinate with providers and other clinical staff regarding credentialing needs and requirements, including submitting and tracking provider applications, following up on development letters, and working with providers to create a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Coordinate with external parties to achieve timely physician credentialing where required
  • Assist in tracking documentation of audits and site visits
  • Work closely with recruiting department to continue the process of onboarding new providers through the credentialing process, including setting provider CME access and coordinating with Occ Health to set up DOT certification training as needed.

  • Gain working knowledge of rules and regulations for onboarding and continued maintenance of Advanced Practitioners, such as Physicians Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift 15-25 lbs.
Required to move from one location to another within and outside of the building; push, pull and reach; bend.
Must be able to speak and write English fluently.
