Substance Use Disorder Professional

Job Responsibilities:

The Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) is responsible for providing substance use treatment services to patients in an outpatient setting. The SUDP will assist in completing activities related to various cross functional projects in support of the program goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a contact for medical providers to discuss patient issues or concerns related to possible substance use disorder symptoms
  • Complete and maintain accurate records or reports regarding the patients' histories and progress, services provided, and other required information
  • Counsel patients, individually or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, or making changes
  • Develop, review and evaluate patient treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and patient histories
  • Intervene as an advocate for patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations
  • Coordinate counseling efforts with mental health professionals or other health professionals, such as doctors, nurses, or social workers
  • Provide patients or family members with information about substance use disorder issues and available services or programs, making appropriate referrals when necessary
  • Plan or implement follow-up or aftercare programs for patients to be discharged from treatment programs
  • Familiarity with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) diagnoses and placement
  • In school-based health center, collaborates with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students address behavioral health needs
  • In school-based health center, identify and report possible cases of neglect or abuse
  • Familiar with using electronic health record (ex. Athena)
  • Monitor, and where applicable, oversee relevant provider and care staff to ensure delivery of care
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports.  

Qualifications

  • Active Substance Use Disorder Professional License in Washington State (required)
  • Active CPR Certification (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)

For pay equity purposes, PCHS pays each role at a calculated market wage plus applicable stipends associated with certain shifts or locations.

Starting Salary: $68,000

Work Environment and Physical Demands

With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be available to individuals with disabilities to perform their essential job functions.
