Job Responsibilities:

The Lab/Immunization Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing various chemical, microscopic, bacteriological tests, immunizations, and patient education with appropriate documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurately and correctly obtaining specimens, utilizing appropriate preparation, processing, and evaluation procedures for all specimens including, but not limited to, heel sticks, venipuncture, and finger sticks
  • Produce, document, and report accurate reliable lab test results in time frames that contribute to effective patient care
  • Under the direction of a provider acting under the scope of their license to administer drugs, medications, treatments, test, injections and inoculation.
  • Provide care coordination and administer medications at detention center
  • Produce, document, and report on patient immunization and laboratory testing
  • Communicate to staff changes in immunization requirements and availability
  • Observe established safety guidelines, maintain cleanliness, and ensure effective day-to-day operations of the medical laboratory unit, including but not limited to, receiving and stocking of supplies, mixing and/or assembling drugs for immunization and administration to patient
  • Maintain appropriate records for all specimens, slides, and data conforming to state and federal guidelines for good laboratory and immunization practices
  • Perform all duties as a Medical Assistant; may fill in for Medical Assistant on occasion
  • Familiar with using electronic health record (Ex. Athena)
  • Hours may include weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct reports.

Qualifications

  • Active LPN license in Washington State (required)
  • Active CPR Certification (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)

Pay Range: $26.72 - $31.71/hour DOE

Must have excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; to receive and respond well to feedback. Possess strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; time-management and organizational skills, including being punctual, responsive, and efficient. Perform job with professionalism and good judgment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

With multiple locations and settings, PCHS’ work environment and physical demands vary greatly depending on the employee’s role. Essential job functions include the following: The employee is required to talk, hear, see, smell, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to move around the facility; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employees may be exposed to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be available to individuals with disabilities to perform their essential job functions.
