Position Summary:

The Physician promotes and maintains health by providing medical services to Sunrise Community Health patients

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting.Ensures proper injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Examines patient and diagnoses patient’s injury or illness.Institutes therapy or referrals of patient to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies or other resources of the community.
  • Determines normal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies, interpreting test results.
  • Interprets and evaluates patient data to determine patient management and treatment.
  • Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Institute emergency measures and emergency treatment or appropriate stabilization measures in situations such as cardiac arrest, shock, hemorrhage, and convulsions.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, managing wounds and infections.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, discussing family planning, providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Prescribes medication for treatment of patient injury or illness.
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Monitors patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.
  • Provides “On-Call” coverage as scheduled.
  • Reviews and responds to patient concerns, reviews patient satisfaction surveys.
  • FTCA requirements – Complies with requests for information in support of FTCA malpractice coverage.
  • Adheres to clinical guidelines, performance of PCMH/QI measures.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains up-to-date license, DEA, board certification, and CME requirements for the position.
  • Team Based Care – Clinical Care Collaboration
    • Works in collaboration and continuous partnership with providers, clinical staff, and community resources in a team approach to promote access to appropriate care in the goal of enhancing patient health.
  • Pre-Visit Team Based Planning
    • Reviews daily schedule and chart by care team.
    • Documented instructions are written on the schedule, typed into the EHR appointment note, or in the EHR as a flag or clinical list update.
    • Ensures patient visit is more efficient by identifying:
      • Records from transitions of care are available during the patient visit.
      • Results from labs or diagnostic are in the EHR.
      • Labs or other services that are not specified in the standing orders protocols.

 

Education & Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university, Medical Degree (M.D.), graduate of an accredited residency program in family medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics or pediatrics, licensed to practice medicine in the State of Colorado, a minimum 7-10 years related experience as a practicing clinician, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be board certified at hire and will be expected to maintain appropriate board certification, licensure, and membership in professional organizations.

  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health care measures.
  • Knowledge of professional medical practice.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care.
  • Knowledge in taking medical history, assessing medical conditions and interpreting findings in a highly efficient manner.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology.

     Computer Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to sufficiently perform daily word processing tasks and work with data in spreadsheets.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

This position works in an office/clinic setting and while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel and use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Current immunizations are required to work at Sunrise Community Health and may vary dependent upon the position. Influenza (Flu) and Tdap Vaccines are required for ALL staff.
