Thor Solutions, LLC (THOR) is seeking candidates to fill positions providing technical expertise and training support for the U.S. Navy. Positions are located in Norfolk, VA, and Virginia Beach, VA.

The ISD will be responsible for the successful development of training curricula in support of customer and program objectives. This includes the development of training products using a systematic approach, adult learning theories, learning technologies, and industry best practices for instructional design.  The ISD will report to the Training Project Manager.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Development of training material and assessments that meet specified learning objectives and goals.

  • Conducting needs analysis to determine the appropriate content.

  • Selection of appropriate learning media to meet learning needs.

  • Provide Quality Assurance (QA) for all training products.

  • Maintenance of accurate training product records and files.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience (3-5 years):

  • Perform analysis of data Job Duty Task Analysis (JDTAs) and Front End Analysis (FEAs) for courseware development.

  • Develop Course Description Document (CDD), Course Master Schedule (CMS), Learning Objectives (LO), Training Guides (TG), PowerPoint (PPT), Lesson Plans (LP) and Job Sheets (JS).

  • Experience in training development products in the NAVEDTRA 130 series format.

  • Instructional analysis experience in the Navy/DoD Training domain.

  • Ability to read, interpret, organize, and synthesize source material (GFI) into well-written, concise learning products.

  • Ability to apply Integrated Learning Environment (ILE) principles and guidelines for the design and development of training products.

  • Ability to develop learning strategies, assessment strategies and author training products to close identified training gaps

  • Experience with the Authoring Instructional Material (AIM) II, AIM Content Planning Module (CPM), and AIM Leaning Object (LO) Module software applications preferred.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Excellent computer skills, expert in Microsoft Office software.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to learn and establish a working knowledge of military terminology.

  • Maintain minimum “Secret” level security clearance.

  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

  • Experience with the Authoring Instructional Material (AIM) II, AIM Content Planning Module (CPM), and AIM Leaning Object (LO) Module software applications.

  • Experience with the development of mechanical theory/engineering courses.

  • Experience with the development of electrical theory/engineering courses.
