Public Job Description

Provide Information Technology (IT) and Information Assurance (IA) support to update and maintain security planning and accreditation in support of the Cyber Security Work Force (CSWF) mission.  Duties are diverse and require Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge of IT/IA tools, policies, and procedures within the DoD, US Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), and/or Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) domain(s).  Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply knowledge and skills to maintain network infrastructure and conduct all activities to maintain an authority to operate facility;

  • Support system/network protection, intrusion detection and monitoring to protect and maintain network infrastructure;

  • Conduct installation, patching, scanning and mitigation in accordance with all compliance, policy and procedural guidance;

  • Install and maintain Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) compliance, Information Assurance Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVB), and Security Technical Information Guides (STIG) for both Windows and Linux, and update all documentation accordingly;

  • Maintain and update all guiding documents to include Security Planning, Annual Review, Maintenance, Network and Operational documentation;

  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyze new IT/IA trends and policies and provide recommendations for upgrades, improvements and new technology for consideration

 Security Clearance Requirement:

Must hold and maintain an active SECRET clearance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Experience: 

  • 7+ years of directly relevant work experience is in support of the DoD and US Navy is required. Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge in network infrastructure and cybersecurity protocols is required;

  • A graduate degree from accredited university is required – OR – DoD 8570 IAT Level III Certificate is required – OR – NETW Certificate is required;

  • Network Hardware Certification is required;

  • Configuring Windows Certification is required;

  • Linux RedHat Certification is required;

  • Prior or current verifiable CSWF Appointment is required. Must maintain compliance with 40 hours of continuous learning requirements per year;

  • Must be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing;

  • Must possess and exercise diplomatic tact for successful interface with customers;

  • Must be proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office products and tools.
