Radiology Technician

Description:

To perform radiologic examinations following established procedures for patient care and safety. To assist the health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients seen in the clinic.


Primary Functions:
 
  • Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Perform radiographic examinations while adhering to radiology protocols.
  • Educate patients on radiologic procedures and safety protocols.
  • Provide patients with radiation protection equipment and ensure they comply with safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist patients in preparing and positioning for radiologic imaging.
  • Record all patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Label images in the EMR according to VNA standard operating procedures.
  • Evaluate radiologic images for quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of testing equipment.
  • Perform radiographic room disinfection and ensure general cleanliness of exam areas.
  • Sterilize all reusable medical instruments.
  • Ensure that imaging equipment is in optimum operating order and inform the appropriate person when it needs repairs
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
  • Ensures all radiographs achieve a radiographic interpretation by clarifying discrepancies.
  • Familiarizes and complies with all VNA policies and procedures.
  • Meets standards of behavior expectations.
  • Follows established guidelines for use and/or disclosure of protected health information. Employees should report any breaches of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules to the Privacy Officer immediately. Failure to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits: Hourly Range: $26.00 - $48.76, depending on experience.

Incentives: Earn up to $500.00 quarterly based upon meeting productivity goals.

Qualifications
  • Minimum high school degree or equivalent and diploma as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution.
  • Illinois license to practice as a radiologic technologist: Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification
  • In-depth knowledge of radiology protocols and imaging equipment
  • Ability to work with the general public and provide a high standard of patient care
  • BLS certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, and written)
  • Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and follow through on daily tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally and appropriately.

5. Tactile and visual senses intact.
