Non-Paid Internship - Juvenile Intensive Services

Job Summary: To learn the day-to-day operations of the program’s involved in the Waukesha Juvenile Intensive Services Department, including shadowing with experienced Case Manager’s, and learning the documentation required for the programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Observe all aspects/essential functions of the Intensive Supervision, Youth Empowerment, and the Youth Advocate positions to gain a full understanding of each of the programs and how they intersect with the Juvenile Justice System
• Complete and explain Intensive Supervision Court Order contracts with youth and parents
• Complete case notes for observed interactions with youth in the community
• Complete database entries for observed visits
• Attend Detention and Court Hearings as requested

Required Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at an WCS approved Associate or Bachelor Degree level college

• Meet all the employee requirements including references, criminal background check, drug test, and driver’s license check.
• Program specific knowledge:
  • Working knowledge – can understand basic principles and solve basic problems and have an interest in learning about the Juvenile Justice System.

• Technological Aptitude – Ability to use general technological skills throughout daily job i.e., Email, Internet, company specified systems, (ex. Microsoft 365).

• Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to think critically and be solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment and adapt to program changes and challenges.
