Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and specifically non-profit accounting principles and applications. • Advanced skills in working with Excel spreadsheets and accounting software.• Highly proficient in utilization of Microsoft Office and other business software.• Familiarity with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) operating and reporting requirements. • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner. • High level of emotional intelligence and maturity• Expert problem solver and analytical thinker.• Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.• Ability to manage and supervise staff.Qualifications:• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required• CPA and / or advanced degree in business-related field strongly preferred• 5+ years of relevant accounting experience• 3+ years of experience working in a nonprofit environment• Previous experience supervising and leading a team is desired
Work Relationship and Scope: Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, CEO, Vice Presidents and Administrators. Supervises Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll staff. Interacts with funding sources, employees, supervisors, program directors, bankers, outside vendors, and auditors. Must be able to work both independently and from a team approach.Personal Attributes: Must operate with the highest level of integrity and honesty with obligation to disclose any and all process flaws or breaches in financial procedures. Required to enter data into computing devices via keyboards. Work is performed while sitting for extended periods of time with the ability to move about at will.Physical Demands: Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle objects and controls. Must possess hand and finger dexterity for data entry.
