You’re patient and are able to work with children of different abilities and backgrounds.
You are resourceful and are able to assist those with different learning styles.
A Day in the Life
As Teacher Assistant you’ll work with the classroom teachers to develop the learning environment, assisting in classroom activities.
You’ll help set up classroom materials; keep the classroom clean and safe; read to children; organize and supervise play activities and soothe children who are upset.
You will follow the lead of the classroom staff to reinforce appropriate behaviors using positive guidance.
You’ll assist in family-style meals, snack, diapering/toileting, rest and teachers’ breaks.
Qualifications
If you have a high school diploma or GED, you’ll need to earn your CDA credential or state-awarded certificate during your first two years with us. We’ll pay for it and help you do it.
If you have one of these certifications, an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, you’re already qualified. You must have a strong commitment to BI-CAP’s values of collaboration, innovation, compassion, diversity, equity and inclusion.
Applicants must pass a DHS Background Study and meet DHS & MN Rule 3 licensing requirements.
Wages
You’ll be eligible for a competitive benefits package and the opportunity to make a difference in the community.
Full time, 32 hours/week, 10-month school year. Mid Aug 2025 - mid May 2026. No CDA: $15.42 - $21.59/hr; With CDA: $16.49 - $23.08/hr., depending on qualifications, with benefits during the school year. Benefits: medical, dental and vision; life insurance, short-term disability. Retirement plan/benefits that include employer contributions. Paid time off, holiday pay and more.
Tentative Schedule:
M-TH 7.5 hrs; 2 hrs on Fri or M-TH 8 hrs/day.
